Il Trovatore – Verdi (operatic tale of Count vs. Gypsy love rivalry 2 x CDs)

(featuring a Late 90’s recording, made in Bratislava, Slovakia, of “Il Trovatore”, with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ivan Anguelov, and starring : Romanian soprano Anda-Louise Bogza as Leonora ; baritone Igor Morosaw as Count Luna ; tenor Boiko Zvetanov as Manrico ; and, mezzo-soprano as Azucena) Giuseppe Verdi’s (1813-1901) “Il Trovatore” is a tale of a love rivalry, between the Count Luna, and the gypsy, Manrico. They duel for the love of Leonora, with the old gypsy woman, Azucena, as the other main character. As the synopsis progresses, the audience are drawn, more and more, to the conclusion, that in fact Luna and Manrico are brothers, a fact that is proven in the closing words of Azucena, to Luna – after both Leonora’s and Manrico’s separate deaths – “He was Your brother!” (Includes 55-page booklet containing full libretto in Italian) Disc One : Il Trovatore, by Verdi (beginning) :- 1)-3) Act I (25:50) ; 4)-8) Act II (39:05).
